I listened to the Book and the Spade interview with Ronny Reich, and it contains much of the same information in the news reports (no surprise). In the interview though, you get to hear it directly from the archaeologist, though the recording isn’t the best quality. The interview is available as an mp3 download is available for about a week. Reich does comment on his hopes for future excavation of the garden and is rather pessimistic of the possibility because of the on-going troubles in the Greek Orthodox Church (which owns the property). Of course those troubles go back largely to a real estate transaction with Israelis, which makes this especially touchy. Maybe one day…
