Why I Love IBEX

By | October 31, 2005

I thought I’d go to bed early when I saw the TMS Alumni blog calling for contributions from alumni who are abroad. Penciling a few thoughts led to writing a whole post and now I’m going to bed late. In short, I gave a brief explanation of what IBEX is doing and why I love it. You can read it if you don’t know.

The problem with reading your blog, Todd, is that I wish I was still there! ~Bethann

I would have to concur with that statement…I catch myself thinking about Israel at the most odd moments, but it brings me so much joy. People always make jokes that IBEX is a cult…it is in a way, in that when a student comes back from 105 days in Israel they are changed for the rest of their lives. It makes me sad when I tell someone that I went to Israel and I suggest that they go even for a short stint of time, that they blow off my comment and say they would rather go to Europe. I don’t think that is wrong in one sence, but I would hope that any believer that has a chance to go to the land that is talked about in the book that they read so much, that they would jump at that opportunity. Well, my sister just put my nephew in my hands so I have to stop.

Todd, in the TMS blog you mentioned the phrase that the semester at IBEX, at least on your part and the part of the professors, is fundamentally a discipleship program. I think that is so true and that is why you, Bill and Randy need to keep up the hard work. You guys have been entrusted with such a blessed task. Keep it up. Todd, to encourage you, if there is anyone I can think of that’d be a good discipler, you and the other two IBEX profs definately are top on the list. Thank you.
