from a former student…
so i’m reading this book my professor suggested, “the greatness of the kingdom” by alva mcclain and it hit me. You are still making me study and you’re like 10,000 miles away! thanks a lot.

I’m taking a guess that that was Cynthia. =) Ha ha. It made me chuckle because earlier today I pulled out my laminated timeline that you gave us (the “placemat”) and I was reviewing the ‘Egyptian Periods and the Bible’ section along with my HAI notes trying to match up dates some dates with a World History text book that I’m reading. The text book is secular, and of course they got the date of the Exodus wrong, but I was thankful that they listed the Hebrews at all in their account of the ANE peoples. So… I couldn’t help but think of you and the glory days of History of Ancient Israel! Miss those days! Thanks for all your hard work and all your preparation for every class! You see?… It’s still paying off.
May the Lord continue to bless your ministry!
With much appreciation,
Jodi Dyck
Jodi – glad to hear it! :-)
But it wasn’t Cynthia.
What a great book! For once I’m actually reading something before I see that you have recommended it. You should offer a “parents” class some day. ;) I know I could use one of those timelines for teaching my SS class! I suspect we pretty much agree on dates, but my computer skills lag when it comes to producing things like timelines. What a great idea for your former student to keep theirs nearby when they read related material. THAT should be something you like to hear!
Ha ha Jodi – thanks for thinking of me though =)! I do own it. I have not read it yet but yesterday I actually pulled it off my “to read” pile of books and hope to start it this week! I hope it lives up to the expectation of being “the best book you’ve never heard of”! (I think it will) =)
