January 7

Gunner ends the year with mature insight.  I suggest you read “Some Things I Learned in 2008.”

Worship Leader has nominations for the top Worship Songs/Albums of 2008.  You might find something here that you like.

What do you look for when you buy a Bible?  I’ve always thought more about translation and exterior look than about the binding, even though I’ve had a number of Bibles fall apart because of poor binding.  Here’s a blog post I noted some months ago that has a good explanation of what makes a good binding and what does not.

I appreciate the prayers for my knee.  Since requesting prayer, I have not experienced any severe pain.  The knee specialist today said that the x-ray showed no bone problems, and has ordered an MRI (on the possibility that it’s an issue with the cartilage).

I intend to continue the Isaiah series as soon as possible.

It depends on what I’m purchasing the Bible for. eg if its for personal reading I like something which is comfortable to handle , with a reasonable sized font. I have a few wide margin Bibles which are great for note-taking in the Bible. And my next Bible purchase will be an ESV study bible which I’m getting solely for the notes ( my version of choice is the KJV).

    Great pic of the girls!

Keep the Isaiah stuff coming. Though it isn’t generating a lot of comments, it’s definitely generating God-honoring thinking here. I’m certain others are also benefiting as well.

Hey, Todd. Thanks for that first link especially.

I was thinking today about a bibliobloggers lunch/dinner at the regional SBL in March. Are you going? Are you interested in a get together? And do you know if anyone else has planned this in years past?

I know there are several of us in DFW alone, and it would be very nice to meet in person. Get back to me when you can, and I’ll keep asking around.

And as always, thanks for blogging.

    Hi Todd,

Man, I popped onto your blog this evening and realize that I haven’t been on it for a bit and need to catch up… Christmas must’ve done a number on me. I hope yours was good and restful.

    Just a few thoughts…

    1. Thanks for keeping all the cool links coming. I enjoy following the wide variety of rabbit trails. =)

    2. Thanks for the Isaiah posts… Tonight I just started a 34 week study on Isaiah at my church and am stoked. The intro and reviewing the history of Israel made me miss History of Ancient Israel.

    3. I saw Jenn Kintner yesterday and I’m pretty sure your guys’ name came up at least once… or maybe ten times… in conversation. =) (And you think we’ve forgotten about you). =)

    4. I still think Plano is cool.

    5. January 7th is a good day. =)
