The start of the semester has been full, including 20 hours of teaching in the first 3 days, besides various student life responsibilities. When it slows up, I hope to have time to blog more. Today was the first day of first grade for our two oldest, Luke and Mark. They got on the bus with about a dozen other kids from the moshav for the 15-minute ride to school. Last night when trying to encourage the younger about how fun school would be, I mentioned the new playground they would play on. Kelli quickly corrected me. There is no playground at the school. Just a lot weeds. Oops. (I’ve been there, but just assumed there was a playground somewhere.) This year some of the Israeli schools are going to a five-day school week, so the kids will now have Friday and Saturday off (instead of Saturday only). I think that’s a good move. As with most good ideas, the religious are fighting it tooth and nail.
Kelli now has the two girls at home all day. They’re fun :=)

Todd, how precious your children are. Thanks for putting pictures up on your blog. :) I sure wish I knew Katie…but at least we were there when you found out that she would be coming along. Enjoy your time (as I know you will) with teaching L&B this semester. What could be better then going to Israel in the Fall and having you for the teacher? So great. Are you still reading John Piper on Saturday mornings on the way to church? Those are some great memories. The Lord bless you!
WOW! Katie is getting so big! I too enjoy seeing pictures on your blog, Todd. I can also relate to that whole playground thing. I can’t tell you how many times I encouraged my younger brother Dan (he’s almost 10 now) with something that I was wrong about! I don’t think Mark will hold it against you. How was their first day, by the way? Are Luke and Mark together during the day?
Ok, so I know that 3 girls have already responded to how cute your little daughters are…and now a fourth will add to it all! Sheesh, I don’t even think that “cute” fits, it is too, well over used to descibe them…umm, how about adorable…or darling…no, I don’t like that word…hmm, 3 strikes and I’m out…I guess cute will have to do. Enjoy them now before they are as old as I am (24, yikes!)

Interesting that I get more comments on a photo of the girls than on the more serious academic posts that takes much more time to write :-).
Amy – the boys had a good first day, and now they’re on day 4. They seem to like it. They are in the same building, but different classes. There are three regular first grade classes (Mark is in one), and one that is smaller for kids that are behind and Luke is in that one. So, yes, they see each other on recess in the big weed lot. :-)
