January 18

What does 7 billion people mean?  National Geographic summarizes it in three minutes, and thankfully it avoids scare tactics.

What are the best-selling Christian books in 2010?  The answer is not encouraging about the state of the church.

Paul Tripp provides a good perspective on parenting and “interruptions.”

Our city of Plano ranks #1 on the list of best places for women to live in the US.

Some of you will be amused at the real source of Benny Hinn’s power.

I’ve been setting aside quarters with the states depicted since we moved to Texas.  Recently we dumped them all out on the kitchen table and placed them on the map.  The states that are avoiding our family: Illinois and Indiana.

    Hi Todd,
I am a pastor and a student at Nyack College. I get on your websites daily. Today I read and watched the youtube short video about pastor Benny Hinn. First, I would like to ask: By whom this short youtube is made? Is it a trustworthy source?

As leaders we are not to expose each other at all.
I hope these comments do not offend you. I know and believe that pastor Benny Hinn has made some mistakes, but I believe he is God’s man.
    Than you

    Hi Rimon,

    >>As leaders we are not to expose each other at all.

Could you please provide biblical support for this statement? I believe that Scripture consistently and overwhelmingly says and does the very opposite. One example: 2 Cor 11:13-15.

    >>Benny Hinn has made some mistakes, but I believe he is God ‘s man.

What is your criteria for this? If the criteria is faithfulness to God’s Word, then I consider Hinn to be a dangerous heretic who will be severely judged for his false teaching (cf. James 3:1).

All of the false teachers that Jesus and Paul and John denounced used “church language,” did good deeds, and claimed to do God’s work. Their teaching and conduct, however, must be measured against Scripture. The issue with Hinn is not a mistake here or there but a lifelong pattern of self-aggrandizement and denial of the teaching of Scripture for the purpose of self-enrichment.

Hinn makes a mockery of the gospel with his antics, and I believe that the video link posted here appropriately shows the folly of his actions.

I would also add that this video was screaming, change your shorts, funny!!!!

The sad part is that you can do a youtube search and see the clip that these video was doctored from. Hinn is waving and tossing his jacket around to ‘slay people in the spirit’ (note that I didn’t capitalize spirit). The whole thing looks like a bad SNL skit and watching it has got to be embarrassing for most Christians.

I still don ‘t know about the sincerity of Hinn ‘s faith; I ‘ll leave that to God. But enough is known of how he runs his ministry as a cash cow and I ‘m more inclined to believe that what happens on stage of simply group delusion and not the real power of God. I would love to be wrong about this, but I ‘m 98% sure I ‘m not.
