Anybody ever heard of Desmond Tutu? Well, apparently he has heard of me. I don’t usually talk about my fame here (ok, that would be a short talk. Real short.) But my two fans might like to know that the Archbishop Emeritus of Cape Town has this to say:

The fact that he mentions me by name suggests that he thinks I’m important. If only he knew…

Forgive me if Bishop Tutu’s recommendation is somewhat unsatisfying. Other than the photos, which I have no doubt are stunning, what’s your analysis of the book?

Desmond Tutu? Wow…talk about a small world. I never expected to see a name from home on your site. He’s something of a large than life figure in South Africa–he was always doing or saying something on the news back in Cape Town (that something not always being commendable). Bishop Tutu and his purples robes…I’m not proud of him, but at least he shows good taste in his photography tastes — I finally agree with something he says!
And for the record, I think it quite right that he give credit where it’s due. Congrats on the honorable mention, Todd. :-)
David – I haven’t had time to look much at the book (and won’t in the near future), but I know from the authors and the publisher that it’s not a book I’d choose for a textbook for one of my classes. I think it’s fair to call it a “mainstream” approach to the biblical text, which is significantly different from a view that the Scriptures are historically accurate.
