This afternoon I received in the mail the page proofs for a 2011 calendar featuring my photos. \u00a0 My pictures have been used in half a dozen calendars over the years, but this calendar is spectacular. \u00a0 It’s large (as calendars go), has a large photo as well as a smaller inset photo, and covers 16 months (Sept-Dec 2010 all on a single page). \u00a0 But the reason I like it so much is that they picked my favorite places and many of my favorite photos. \u00a0 I wouldn’t have picked the cover shot (Mar Saba), but I love the photos of En Gedi, the Sea of Galilee, Beth Shean, and the Dead Sea. \u00a0 All the shots are good (in my opinion). \u00a0 The calendar includes the regular holidays as well as Jewish ones (but try this, instead of Passover, it says “Passover begins at sundown,” which frankly is much less confusing for me, but I’ve never seen it done).<\/p>\n
Now that’s a long explanation for a short question. \u00a0 These calendars will be sold in bookstores around the country, but I don’t know which ones (the publisher is a secular company with years of calendar experience). \u00a0 I have the option of ordering a large quantity at a discount, which I could sell for $10 (plus $2 shipping if you don’t come to visit; retail price is $14). \u00a0 This is a great way for me to lose<\/em> money, if I buy more than I can sell. \u00a0 What do you think? \u00a0 Sight unseen, would you likely purchase the “Lands of the Bible” calendar for $12?<\/p>\n \n
