{"id":1120,"date":"2010-08-21T22:48:10","date_gmt":"2010-08-22T03:48:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/toddbolen.com\/2010\/08\/21\/save-me-you-are-my-god\/"},"modified":"2010-08-21T22:48:10","modified_gmt":"2010-08-22T03:48:10","slug":"save-me-you-are-my-god","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/toddbolen.com\/blog\/2010\/08\/21\/save-me-you-are-my-god\/","title":{"rendered":"Save Me, You are My God"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I was always taught not to make fun of other people and to ask &#8220;what would Jesus do?&#8221;&#160; Well, if the question was, what would Isaiah do, the answer is\u00e2\u20ac\u201dhe would make fun of people!&#160; <\/p>\n<p>You probably won&#8217;t appreciate this so much if you &#8216;re in between stops at CNN.com and DailyJokeoftheDay.com, but I&#8217;m guessing that Isaiah expected his hearers\/readers to laugh and laugh and laugh.&#160; At least the ones that were not indicted.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160; The blacksmith takes a tool <\/p>\n<p>and works with it in the coals; <\/p>\n<p>he shapes an idol with hammers, <\/p>\n<p>he forges it with the might of his arm. <\/p>\n<p>He gets hungry and loses his strength; <\/p>\n<p>he drinks no water and grows faint. <\/p>\n<p>&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160; The carpenter measures with a line <\/p>\n<p>and makes an outline with a marker; <\/p>\n<p>he roughs it out with chisels <\/p>\n<p>and marks it with compasses. <\/p>\n<p>He shapes it in the form of man, <\/p>\n<p>of man in all his glory, <\/p>\n<p>that it may dwell in a shrine. <\/p>\n<p>&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160; He cut down cedars, <\/p>\n<p>or perhaps took a cypress or oak. <\/p>\n<p>He let it grow among the trees of the forest, <\/p>\n<p>or planted a pine, and the rain made it grow. <\/p>\n<p>&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160; It is man&#8217;s fuel for burning; <\/p>\n<p>some of it he takes and warms himself, <\/p>\n<p>he kindles a fire and bakes bread. <\/p>\n<p>But he also fashions a god and worships it; <\/p>\n<p>he makes an idol and bows down to it. <\/p>\n<p>&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160; Half of the wood he burns in the fire; <\/p>\n<p>over it he prepares his meal, <\/p>\n<p>he roasts his meat and eats his fill. <\/p>\n<p>He also warms himself and says, <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Ah!
