Oral Exam

By | November 1, 2007

This afternoon I sat before a panel of DTS faculty and they asked me lots of questions about the Bible, everywhere from Genesis to Revelation.  After the beating, they invited me to leave the room so they could beat me privately.  Then I was invited back in and welcomed to the program.  Assuming I pass one more ThM class, I can start coursework in January.  I’m not sure if I’m allowed to talk about the test, but some might appreciate this:  if you know the answer to 966+480 (and the ins and outs of it), you would have gotten one right.  I was happy when they asked me that one.

Congrats on passing your oral exam! I am happy that we don’t have orals like that at Wheaton. I hope to see you at ETS in a few weeks.

Congratulations! Welcome to the world of DTS Bible Ex PhD students and their families! What a day of rejoicing that will be when a Dr. Bolen and a Dr. Zeller emerge from the program!

Most exceeding congratulations!! I’m glad you walked out of the beating alive and in the program (hope you don’t have too many bruises of any sort). Huzzah for Bible date mathematics!

I either over estimated your intelligence or underestimated the difficulty of the entrance exam because I didn’t expect you to do anything but pass. But really, great job and congratulations!

Wow, I’m surprised I knew what that was. I’m not surprised that you knew it, though. I’m glad that God keeps stuff like that inside of our leaky, messed up, in-the-process-of-being-renewed minds. Congrats, Todd.

Did you support it with the argument from the Jubilee years? And were they impressed? I mentioned the article to someone (who I thought knew everything about the OT) and he hadn’t heard about it…It made me feel like I was on the cutting edge….umm, that is of really old things…and dull to some people.
