I’ve always liked John Piper. I loved when he said we were celebrating joyously at his election victory. I also loved how he says “we are praying for you.” All too often we spend time tearing down and berating our leaders, when we really should be praying for them and our country. I remember being at TMC during the Clinton years and ended up finally realizing the importance of praying for our leaders, even if they don’t share the same views. I remember sending a letter to the President, expressing my disagreement on his abortion views, but also sharing some concerns over faith. I told him I was praying for him. I got a nice form letter back to the effect — “While we may disagree on issues, I’m glad to see we can all work together … yada yada.” I need to put one together for Obama.
